1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Subtra Chrome extension, the website at getsubtra.com, or any related APIs and services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not install or use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Subtra is a language immersion assistant and learning software designed to help users learn foreign languages through video subtitles and interactive study drills. Core features include:

• Dual Subtitles: Simultaneous multi-language subtitle displays on supported streaming platforms (YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and compatible web players).
• Hover & Click Translation: Instant sentence and contextual vocabulary translation.
• Vocabulary & Word Bank: Automatic saving and organizing of sentences, context clips, and vocabulary lists.
• AI Practice Studio: Customized language drills including Phrase Lab, Shadowing Studio, and Story Mode powered by language models.
• Anki Export: Generation of spaced-repetition flashcards in standard TSV format.

3. Accounts & Authentication

To sync vocabulary, access history, and manage subscriptions, users authenticate using Google OAuth managed securely via Supabase. You agree to provide accurate information and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication tokens and credentials.

4. Subscription Plans, Billing & Paddle

Subtra offers both Free and Paid (“Subtra Premium” or “Subtra Pro”) subscription tiers:

Payment Processing: All financial transactions and recurring billing are managed exclusively by Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), our Merchant of Record. By subscribing, you authorize Paddle to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring monthly or annual basis until cancelled.

Promotional Trials: We may offer early-access promotional trials (e.g., 1-month free trial without requiring a credit card). Upon expiration of a promotional trial without subscription, your account will revert to the standard Free plan without automatic charges.

5. Cancellation & Refund Policy

You may cancel your Subtra Premium subscription at any time. When cancelled, your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid billing period, with no subsequent charges.

6. Intellectual Property & User Content

You retain full ownership of the vocabulary lists, notes, and personal learning history created through your account. Subtra owns all proprietary software, design, user interface assets, logos, and algorithms comprising the extension and web dashboard.

7. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

• Decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of our backend services.
• Abuse, overload, or bypass rate limits on our translation or AI practice endpoints.
• Resell, sublicense, or share paid account access with third parties.
• Use the Service in violation of any applicable local or international laws.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Because Subtra interacts with third-party web platforms (such as Netflix or YouTube) whose site code may change without notice, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free video integration. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Subtra shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our software.

9. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the “Last Updated” date on this page or through an in-extension notice. Continued use of the Service following modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
